Staff and Volunteers - Keeping children and young people safe in Derby

The work and commitment of staff and volunteers is key to supporting parents and carers to keep children safe in Derby.

The Derby and Derbyshire Safeguarding Children Procedures set out in detail how concerns about the welfare of children are looked into and more information is available on the  page.

To help you in your role, the DDSCP will continue to keep up to date the four key areas below.

Allegations against staff, carers and volunteers

For information about what is an allegation and what to do if an allegation is made against anyone working or volunteering with children see the  page.

Information and Resources

A library of local and national sources of information and resources has been drawn together to cover issues and topics frequently arising in our work with children and young people.

Please visit the  page for more details.

If you have further suggestions for additional topics or content that we should add or update, please email us at ddscp@derby.gov.uk.

Training

The DDSCP provides a multi-agency training programme that is updated on a yearly basis following recommendations from partner agencies about the training needs of staff and volunteers.

There is advice about multi-agency training that have been agreed by partner agencies to help make sure that staff in key roles have the right training.

There are resources such as films that can be used in the workplace or with children and young people in schools and online learning packages for you.

Please visit the  page for more details.

Schools and Colleges

Extensive information is available to help all Education Settings carry out their roles and duties to keep children safe in education.

The Education Sub Groups of the DDSCP keeps up to date locally agreed guidance and proforma policies to keep settings up-to-date.

There are specific resources listed that can be used directly with pupils of all ages on a range of topics.

Please visit the  page for more details.
